UPDATE: Bangor International Airport's runway reopened at 1:16 p.m. Thursday following a small aircraft incident at 11:20 a.m. The aircraft has been removed from the runway and operations are back to normal.  

Original story: An incident involving a small private aircraft forced Bangor International Airport to close for arrivals late Thursday morning.

According to a news release from the airport, the aircraft experienced landing gears problems and was forced to land with the landing gear up at 11:29 a.m. The pilot was the only person on board and was not injured. Emergency crews were still on the scene in the early afternoon.

The airport was closed to all arrivals, according to a news release. Departures of small aircraft were possible.

BIA officials said they were working with emergency personnel and multiple agencies to clear the aircraft from the runway and would provide additional information as it becomes available.
