Mother Nature occasionally does the creepiest things.

We've all seen our fair share of weird stuff over the years, I'm sure. Probably at some point, you've seen something you couldn't really explain, yet knew it likely wasn't supernatural or paranormal, but is still weird enough to give you a serious case of the creeps. I saw a video that did that to me, just yesterday.

When I first laid eyes on it, I honestly was a bit freaked out. It literally looked like skinny black snakes squirming around under the ice, which makes absolutely no sense at all. I've lived in Maine my whole life, and I've never seen any kind of snake that could live in the cold. I mean, cold blooded animals just can't survive a Maine winter.

So what in Lord's name is it then?

Pretty simple really. We've had all sorts of up and down weather temperature-wise, and this is a product of that. It's basically water that's moving around under the ice. What's underneath has melted, while what's on top is still frozen, causing this weird optical illusion, for lack of a better term. Check it out. My friend Rob Sanzone posted it...

Rob posted it on the Dead and Lovely Horror Podcast on Facebook. But seriously, it's nuts right? If you saw this happening in your own driveway, you'd definitely do a double take, or perhaps even run screaming into the night. I think I would choose the latter, haha. But, I'm also a big fraidy-cat.
