A Howland man sustained "significant injuries" when he crashed his motorcycle while allegedly attempting to evade police in Old Town on Sunday.

Police said 26-year-old Charles Gardner was injured when he crashed his motorcycle just before noon near McDonald's on Stillwater Avenue in Old Town.

Gardner was passing several vehicles illegally at a high rate of speed, according to police. When responding officers attempted to pull over Gardner, he sped away.

Gardner was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Gardner did not have a motorcycle license and is currently on probation, police said.

Police say charges have yet to be determined.
