Hartford Man Charged With Murder For Death Of Girlfriend
Police now say the death of a woman in her Hartford home is a homicide and have arrested her boyfriend.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 46-year-old Rondon Athayde was arrested Thursday evening and charged with murder. He's accused of killing his longtime live-in girlfriend, 41-year-old Ana Cordeiro. Police were called to the home just after midnight on Thursday.
The couple have two young children who are now in the custody of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Originally from Brazil, the family moved to Maine from Miami about two years ago. Cordeiro was employed by Lowe's in Auburn.
An autopsy was performed on Cordeiro's body, but officials haven't released the cause of death.
