A Harrison woman is in the hospital after suffering serious stab wounds and other injuries, allegedly at the hands of her son.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the attack happened while 49-year-old Halimo Azair was feeding livestock on her property on Dawes Hill Road. At around 8 p.m. Friday night, Azair was stabbed and was attacked with a splitting maul, leaving injuries on her head, arms, and face.

Her son, 24-year-old Mohamed Noh, was arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Jail on a charge of Elevated Aggravated Assault. He was arrested Friday night by Cumberland County Sheriff's Deputies and is due on court on Monday. State Police are helping with the investigation, trying to find a motive for the attack.
