A Harpswell man is charged with arson in connection with a fire at a house he was renting.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says a Hapswell man was taken to the Cumberland County Jail after being treated for cuts and burns at the hospital. Investigators say the fire started in the bedroom of the Great Island mobile home from paper products that were set on fire. Three other people, who were spending the night, escaped without injury after smelling smoke and being alerted to the fire.

The mobile home at 92 Sunset Cove Road was destroyed and the suspect's two dogs died in the fire. Cumberland County deputies assisted four Fire Marshal investigators at the scene.
