Group Attacked By Fake Uber Driver In Bangor, Police Say
Police say a group of people that left a bar in Bangor early Sunday morning was attacked by a man claiming to be an Uber driver.
Bangor Police Sgt. Tim Cotton said in a Facebook post on the department's page that it is believed the group of three people decided not to drive because they were intoxicated.
Cotton said the group was approached by a man who said he was an Uber driver and he would give them a ride but he would have to use the vehicle belonging to the group.
The group accepted the man's offer and let him drive the vehicle. During the ride, the man pulled into a parking lot.
Cotton said the driver then punched at least two of the passengers, and he may have been attempting to rob them.
The victims fought back, and the man eventually fled the scene on foot without any of the group's belongings.
Police haven't identified the man, and police are still looking for him. The victims could only describe the suspect as a "thin man with a moustache."
