Governor Orders Flags At Half Staff For Barbara Bush
Flags in Maine are flying at half staff today, in honor of Former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away last night.
Governor Paul LePage has ordered all flags lowered to half-staff immediately. They are to remain in that position until sunset on the day of her interment. According to information on the Barbara Bush memorial website, Mrs. Bush will lie in repose Friday at St. Martin's Church in Houston, Texas from noon to midnight, for any members of the public who wish to pay their respects. The funeral will be held in Houston on Saturday and is by invitation only.
"Mainers hold a special place in our hearts for President and Mrs. Bush," Governor LePage said in a statement released today, "and we will treasure our memories of her time spent in our state. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, military spouse, former First Lady, and a strong advocate of family. America has lost a great friend." The Governor and his wife offered their sincerest condolences to the Bush family.
