The Fresh Air Fund is a non-profit organization based in New York City, that places children from the city with host families here in Maine, for a week or two each summer.  I can relate to that, having grown up in the city of Toronto, and getting to spend a week or two in Nova Scotia every summer (and I passed through Maine every summer of my youth). Imagine a big city kid getting the Maine experience in the summer.  Fresh air.  Trees.  The smells.  The stars.  Something they can take back to their lives in the city after the week or two ends.  If you would consider becoming a volunteer host family, go to Freshair.org or their Facebook page
