A Frenchville teen suffered serious injuries after she was thrown from the back of a motorcycle Friday in Saint Agatha.

Police said the operator of the motorcycle, another Frenchville teen, was charged with carrying a motorcycle passenger on a learner’s permit and driving to endanger, state police said Friday.

They said the bike accelerated quickly as it was traveling up a hill on Flat Mountain Road, causing the female passenger to fall off the back of the bike.

She was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent with serious but non-life threatening injuries and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Police said the operator and passenger were both wearing a helmet.

The driver was able to maintain control of the bike during the incident and was not hurt.

Police did not releases the names of the teens because they are minors.
