Fort Knox State Historic Site to Opens Early for School Vacation

With less snow and dryer conditions than usual the fort will open for April Vacation.

One of Maine's busiest State Historic Sites, the Fort has been closed up for the winter since the final night of Fright at the Fort in October. Beat the seasonal crowds by visiting during April Vacation!

The Fort, Gift Shop, and Visitor Center will all be open Monday 4/18- Sunday 4/24 from 9AM-4PM.

I recently visited the fort just to see what work had been done on the Bucksport Mill and to get another look at it before more of it is gone, you have a really great view of the mill from the Battery B area of the Fort.

The Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory will not be open during this time, but it will re-open for the season on May 1st.
