A street fair with fire dancers and ice cream will help the Maine Discovery Museum obtain a fire panel and HVAC system.

It's a cool play on words. The 'Fire and Ice' Street Fair will help the downtown children's museum protect itself from fire and cool the facility in the summer. I love the concept and it sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

Friday evening, between 6 and 9, Broad Street, West Market Square, and Picking Square will be blocked off for a street fair full of family fun. Most unusual, I think, will be the Dragon Keepers fire dancers, which will perform at 7:30! There will be games, raffles, firefighters, science, treats, and a lot more. The Bangor Fire Department will have a fire truck for kids of all ages to explore.

Of course, delicious treats are a must at any fair! Specialty Sweets will man the s'mores station and Happy Endings will sponsor a Fire & Ice Bar for the grown-ups. And for the 'ice' portion of the event, the Darling's Ice Cream for a Cause truck will be in West Market Square offering free ice cream and taking donations.

The games and vendors will be cash only, so be sure to hit the ATM before you stop by. All the proceeds will benefit the fire panel and HVAC improvements at the Maine Discovery Museum, which will also be spreading the word about the annual auction coming up in November.

Grab the kids and head to downtown Bangor Friday night for a magical night of food and fun!
