Nothing says summer like strolling around a Farmer's Market, unless you're in Bangor, where you can find fresh veggies year-round.

I love shopping at Farmer's Markets in the warm weather. I've bought fruits and vegetables, but also fresh breads and even flowers. It's just an experience that's completely separate from shopping in a grocery store. For one thing, you know the goods have been grown and/or made locally, so you're supporting Maine farmers. But there's also the chance to chat with the vendors and smell all the fresh aromas.

So I was excited to learn that Bangor now offers a Farmer's Market in the winter months, as well. Every first and third Sunday of the month, until April, vendors will sell their wares in the banquet room at the Sea Dog restaurant between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Visitors will find seasonal vegetables, as well as naturally raised meats, along with fresh bread and pastries, apples, cider, eggs, dairy products, frozen blueberries, locally roasted coffee, and a lot more.
