Fatal Accident In Ellsworth This Morning [UPDATE]

Police have identified the victim of a fatal accident on Route 3 in Ellsworth that happened early this morning.

WABI-TV reports the accident happened just before 4:00. A vehicle struck a tree on a stretch of road near High Street, just past Marden's. One person was killed in the crash. Police have now identified the victim as 28-year-old Kevin Dyer of Southwest Harbor.

Police say speed was likely a factor in the crash, but fatigue and even animals in the roadway could have contributed. The accident remains under investigation by Ellsworth and Bar Harbor Police.
