A 6-year-old child is recovering after being struck by a pickup while waiting for the school bus in Farmington.

Police say the boy was waiting to board the bus when he was struck by a pickup truck, causing injury to his leg. Newscenter Maine reports it's not clear whether the flashing red lights had been engaged on the bus or whether the 'stop' sign on the side of the bus was out. The boy was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital, and officials say his injuries are non-life threatening.

So far, no charges have been filed against the driver of the pickup truck. The accident remains under investigation. The boy, whose name has not been released, is a student at RSU 9, which includes Mt. Blue High School, one middle school, and elementary schools from Wilton, Farmington, Weld, Temple, Vienna, New Vineyard, Industry, New Sharon, and Starks.
