The extended ice fishing season in northern Maine will wrap up this weekend.

Back in March the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife announced the extension of ice fishing in northern Maine waters. The added weeks of fishing will draw to a close Sunday, April 21.

All rules and regulations for waters that are already open to ice fishing in the north region remain in effect. Any waters not open to ice fishing will remain closed to ice fishing, and Tribal Waters are excluded from the season extension.

Southern Maine waters are already open year-round to both ice fishing and open water fishing, unless closed by special rule.
