Elderly Man Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in a Portland Park

A driver faces multiple charges, including OUI, after he drove into Deering Oaks Park in Portland and fatally struck an elderly man.

29-year-old Jonathan Burt of Lisbon is charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence of drugs, violation of conditions of release, and operating without a license. WGME-TV reports that a sedan, driven by Burt, drove through the baseball field at Deering Oaks park and hit a 76-year-old man. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police say both Burt and his passenger were treated for overdose symptoms. The name of the victim has not been released, while his family is notified.
