Fall Foliage at Chick Hill in Eddington, Maine
Maine.gov has released their final Maine fall foliage report with Eastern Maine experiencing its peak fall foliage, but it won't last. With warmer than usual temperatures this week, now is the most opportune time to get out and take in the autumn hues of the leaves. Below are photos taken from the Chick Hill hiking trail in Eddington, Maine on Sunday, October 20th, 2024.

Finding the Parking Lot at Chick Hill, Maine is Slightly Challenging
I only say challenging because Apple Maps will tell you that you still need to keep driving to the parking lot when you have already arrived. With no cars in the "parking lot" it can be slightly challenging to identify especially when your iPhone is telling you to keep driving. Don't by the way. The route Apple Maps wants you to continue on is very much meant to be hiked, and your sedan won't make it very far. Here is what the lot looks like for reference.
You Won't Find Many Better Views Than the One atop Chick Hill, Maine
With only being 20-30 minutes outside of the Bangor/Brewer area, this is a convenient gem. The views go on for miles, and right now the colors of the trees are vibrant. On Sunday, October 20th, the small parking lot was full, but it wasn't challenging to find parking. There were several vehicles going up and down the trail, but hiking it is the way to go. It takes approximately 45 minutes to reach the top, and 30 minutes to descend the hill
