Early Morning Fire In Lewiston Kills Eight Cats

Fire officials say 8 cats perished this morning when a building that houses apartments and businesses caught fire.

No people were hurt in the fire at 906 Lisbon Street, which is home to 3 businesses and has apartments, as well. WGME-TV reports the fire started in the back of one of the businesses and firefighters could be seen taking out washers, dryers, and refrigerators.

A portion of Lisbon Street was shut down while crews from multiple towns battled the 3-alarm blaze. Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office will now work to determine how the fire started.
