On Saturday, you can get rid of all those unwanted electronics and support the Challenger Learning Center at the same time!

Once again this year, the science center in Bangor has set aside a day to collect unwanted electronic waste. It's great for the environment, and helps support the programs at Challenger, where students are taught STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects through fun, hands-on projects.

Get a jump-start on your spring cleaning by getting rid of any electronics that you no longer need. Accepted will be televisions, computer monitors, microwave ovens, old game systems, all of those sorts of electronics. You can find a complete list of acceptable items online. The Learning Center on Venture Way in Bangor has the perfect location where folks can drive in and drive out easily. And there will be volunteers on hand to unload your electronics for you!

The E-Waste event will be held this Saturday, April 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Challenger Learning Center, 30 Venture Way in Bangor. The suggested donations are $10 for the first item, and $5 for each additional item. Anyone who donates $25 or more will get a special 'thank you' gift in return.

Businesses that have e-waste to recycle, who may not be available to show up on Saturday, can arrange with the Center to drop it off on Friday between 9 and 5. Any business that's interested should call Executive Director Susan Jonason to make arrangements at 990-2900, ext. 4.
