A man is facing drug charges after police approached him for hitting a parked car.

Augusta Police Major Jared Mills says the driver caught the attention of police at around 8:00 Thursday evening for driving erratically. Before Officer Mathieu could stop the vehicle, it struck a parked car on Commercial Street. He approached the driver, 23-year-old Barrington Walker of New York City, and discovered that he didn't have a license.

Mathieu called for assistance from a Maine State Police Trooper and K-9, and searched the vehicle. Seized were 50 grams of heroin, and 20 grams of crack cocaine, along with cash suspected of being proceeds of illegal drug sales.

Walker is charged with Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License, and Criminal Forfeiture of Property. He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail where his bail is set at $25,000.
