A giant water slide and hot air balloon, that's what may be in store for Downtown Bangor this summer.

According to the BDN, a proposal to bring a 1,000-Foot touring water slide and massive hot air balloon to Bangor this summer is in the works. Urban Slide has visited more than100 cities around the country with their inflatable water slide. The 1,000-foot slide is essentially a two-lane 'Slip N Slide.' The hope is to have the slide on Park Street in Bangor in August.

Another downtown attraction for late summer and fall is a tethered helium balloon. The balloon can lift up to 16 people 300 to 500 feet into the air. The hope is to have the balloon setup in Pickering Square, August into October.

The two proposed attractions are replacements for the Cool Sounds Concert Series. The free summer concerts in Downtown began in 2003, but has been discontinued due to declining attendance.
