A Dover-Foxcroft house sustained only smoke damage when the nearby barn burned during the blizzard.

It was great work by the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department despite extremely challenging conditions. Snow, wind, and cold temperatures made for a less-than favorable situation. Add in the fact that they had to truck in the water to fight the fire and it's amazing that they were able to save the house.

The fire was called in at 9:30 Thursday morning at the Leaves and Blooms Greenhouse on Route 15. The owner and her daughter had been outside filling the wood boiler when they saw smoke coming from the main garage. By the time crews arrived on the scene, flames were shooting out of the structure that sits about four feet from the owner's home.

When it was all said and done, the barn was a total loss. But the house sustained only some smoke damage to the attic. Fire Chief Joe Guyotte told WFVX-TV, it was a 'very good save.'
