Dog the Bounty Hunter is back, and no one even realized it!

During the two-plus years that followed his wife Beth Chapman's death, Duane Dog the Bounty Hunter Chapman remained front page tabloid fodder. He had a television show, a rumored romance, a heart attack, feuds with his children, a marriage, another television show ...

You get the idea.

It all culminated last fall, after he promised to find then-fugitive Brian Laundrie, who killed 22-year-old Floridian Gabby Petito and then ran. The high-profile manhunt ended without Dog playing much of a role, and he seemed to tuck his tail between his legs and hide on social media afterward.

A once robust exchange of ideas on Twitter and Instagram slowed to a trickle. But this dog wasn't sleeping.

On Wednesday night (April 13), Dog Chapman was unmasked as the armadillo on The Masked Singer on Fox. Even he was surprised it took so long for people to figure him out and boot him from the reality competition.

"I was amazed that I went as long as I did without getting number one, booted, and number two, guessed," he tells Hollywood Life.

On Twitter, Chapman shares that wife Francie Frane encouraged him to take the challenge. Like each of his other reality shows (most recently, Dog's Most Wanted), Dog went full throttle on the Masked Singer. "Secret Agent Man" and "I Fought the Law" (get it?) were two of the songs he performed. His final bow was a stirring cover of "Amazing Grace." That's not a joke — Nicole Sherzinger was moved to tears. TEARS!

What's next for Chapman is anyone's guess. A new bounty-themed reality show, perhaps? Or maybe he'll patch things up with his daughters where they need patching. Maybe he'll try to find a yeti? Don't underestimate the man, whatever you do.
