Distracted Driving Causes Fiery Crash On Interstate 95 In Hampden
Police say a driver distracted by his cell phone slammed his car into the back of a pickup truck, sending all of its occupants to the hospital Thursday night.
Anthony Hodge, 19, of Gorham was northbound in a 2003 Nissan Altima and was distracted by his phone when his car slammed into the rear of a 2003 Dodge Dakota, operated by Frank Corso, 32, of Tampa Florida.
Hodge's car then caught fire, shutting down the northbound lane of Interstate 95 in Hampden for nearly an hour Thursday night, according to police.
Corso, along with his wife, and infant daughter were all transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with non-life threatening injuries.
Hodge was charged for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
