A couple in Oxford County is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase with three kids in the car.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Tyler Shorty, 31, of Oakland and Amanda Pingree, 34, of Andover are charged with operating under the influence. State Police say the pair led Trooper Jason Wing on a 20 mile chase Thursday night, after he tried to stop their pickup truck. The chase started in Andover, over some roads that are not maintained in winter, to Richardson Lake in Township C. At one point, police say the truck stopped and Pingree took over driving. It wasn't until the truck finally stopped for good that the trooper discovered the couple's three children were also in the vehicle. The children are between 11 years old and 15 months old.

Shorty is charged with OUI, operating after suspension, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, failing to stop, eluding, driving to endanger, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail.

Pingree is charged with OUI and driving a vehicle with a suspended registration. She was charged but not arrested.

State Police were assisted by Game Wardens, Border Patrol agents, and deputies from Oxford and Franklin counties.
