I don't know about you, but sometimes country music artists come off a bit too polished for me. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I like bands that have members that look like the guys and gals that I grew up with and partied with at the pit--like the band Lucero.

Out of Memphis, Tennessee, Lucero first played at punk rock concerts, although they say they never played punk rock music. Their music has a nice rock & roll edge to it without crossing way over the line to another world. Ben Nichols, lead singer and front man for the band, has a voice that sounds it was shaped by years of smoking and a steady diet of Jack--I like it.

There latest effort is called 'Women and Work.' The video says it all. Whether or not the song will chart respectably remains to be seen, but I think they've got a pretty good shot.
