
Clifton, Maine Driver Found Unconscious in a Lincoln Intersection
A Maine man is facing drug and firearms charges after being found unconscious behind the wheel at a Lincoln intersection.
Clifton, Maine Man Arrested After Allegedly Driving Erratically in Lincoln
Anthony Smith, 31, of Clifton, was arrested on Monday after Lincoln Police responded to a report of an erratic driver.
The 911 caller told authorities that a black Mazda CX-50 with Massachusetts registration was swerving, speeding up and slowing down, and nearly leaving the roadway.

When Lincoln Police Officers located the vehicle, it was stopped in the roadway near the intersection of West Broadway and River Road.

The driver, later identified as Smith, appeared to be unconscious behind the wheel.
As the officers spoke with Smith, they noticed suspected drug paraphernalia in plain view and searched the vehicle.
Seized in that search were:
- Approximately 500 grams of suspected illegal drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamines
- $4,656 in cash
- A single-shot firearm
- Ammunition
- Additional drug paraphernalia.
Smith was taken into custody and transported to the station for further investigation, including an evaluation for operating under the influence, which included help from a drug recognition expert with the Brewer Police Department.
Clifton, Maine, Driver Faces Multiple Charges After Being Found Unconscious
As a result of that search and evaluation, Anthony Smith faces the following charges:
- Aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs (two counts)
- Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person
- Criminal operating under the influence of drugs
- Operating after habitual offender revocation
He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail.
