An initial investigation indicates that the sedan was traveling east at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. The vehicle crossed the center line and left the roadway before striking several trees.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Carmel and Newburgh Fire Departments.

Our condolences to the victims' family and friends.
