Car Leaves Roadway In Hermon Thursday And Ends Up In Birch Stream
A Levant man, driving along Union Street towards Bangor Thursday afternoon, found himself in a tricky situation when his vehicle ended up in the water of a nearby stream.
The man reportedly was traveling into Bangor around 1:30 PM Thursday when he crashed into the tail end of a guard rail running along Route 222.
The man's car ended up half submerged in Birch Stream, which is right before the railroad trestle.
The man's daughter-in-law said four people, who happened to be passing by, helped free him from the car, and get him out of the water and to safety.
EMS personnel arrived shortly after to check the man for injuries and retrieve the car from the stream.
The new Jeep Compass was likely a total loss. The car was towed.
Bangor police said the driver "drifted off the roadway onto the soft shoulder and went off the road, coming to rest in a swampy stream. He was reportedly damp, but otherwise no serious injury."
