On September 8th, as a part of Brewer Days, the Maine State Library and the Brewer Public Library will be having a Scan-A-Thon at the Brewer Auditorium from 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. All the items scanned will be stored in the Maine Digital Repository.

This is an amazing opportunity to have those pieces archived for future generations to be able to look at in a digital format, and not be lost to time because of the poor condition that they might be in. Maybe you've been hording your old scrapbooks, or you have all your parents or grandparents photos from back in the day. Paper starts to degrade over time, and can easily become damaged from weather and handling. Your grand kids' grand kids will be able to look at all this someday, and keep all the family history alive.

And it's not just family history. I imagine folks around here have tons of great pictures of Brewer through the years. Maybe it's old high school football photos, or the Canusa Games. Maybe old deeds to the house....who knows?! But now's a chance to put them in a forever place that folks can enjoy for years to come.

Come on out that day and enjoy helping to document Brewer's history. Plus, imagine all the fun you'll have comparing photos with other people there. That may end up being the funnest part of all. Just talking, and sharing all the history of this great little town. Be there or be square!
