The signs are now up on Wilson and State Streets in Brewer and they say that road construction will begin on May 5th, this coming Monday!

Throughout the winter and early spring construction and utility crews have been busily replacing poles and underground utility lines, they've also resurfaced some of  the sidewalks, and now the heavily traveled thoroughfare will receive a re-surfacing!

The Maine Department of Transportation is in charge of the $900,000 project.  The the top off the pavement will be milled off and then replaced with a new surface.  Another "turn" lane will also be added on WIlson Street. The work will be done by Maine Earth of Hermon.

People traveling through Brewer on Wilson & State Streets during the construction can expect delays.  I-395 or Dirigo Drive can always be used as a  bypass.

Brewer City Engineer Frank Higgns said that he expects the City and the DOT to work on the railroad crossing between Mark’s Music and Hartford’s Garage on State Street, which is always an experience to drive over.
