Brewer Police say a portion of South Main Street will be closed to traffic and pedestrians today.

The affected area spreads between the intersections with Burr Street and Baker Boulevard. Burr Street is right next to Cowan's Garage, while Baker Boulevard is the egress from the Industrial Park, next to the I-395 on-and-off ramps.

The closure will begin at 9 am and could end as late as 4 pm.

Officials say the closure is necessary because crews will be removing a hazardous tree.
Drivers are advised to navigate around this closure during the day and seek alternate routes, especially when exiting I-395 with the purpose of heading into Brewer.
