Unfortunately, another national chain with locations in Maine has announced nationwide closures. This seems to be happening far too often in 2025.

So, given all of that, which breakfast restaurant chain with locations in Maine has unfortunately announced that it will be closing locations nationwide this year?

Denny’s is closing even more restaurants than previously announced, bringing the total number of closures closer to 180. The company revealed it shut down 88 locations last year and plans to close between 70 and 90 more in 2025.

Some closures are due to expiring leases, high remodeling costs for older diners, or unprofitable locations.

While remodeled Denny’s restaurants saw a 6.5% traffic increase, only 23 out of 1,300 locations were renovated in 2024.

At the moment, we’re not sure how or if this news will affect our Denny’s restaurants in Bangor and Auburn, but we’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Maine hasn’t been immune to recent changes, and that includes the sudden closure of the Denny’s in Augusta. The diner shut its doors for good on December 24th, 2024, leaving many customers surprised and disappointed.
