A 26-year-old Blue Hill man died Saturday evening in a single-vehicle crash.

Carson Crocker was killed in the crash that was reported to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office at approximately 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Deputies responded to the scene on Pleasant Street in Blue Hill and found a maroon Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, belonging to Crocker.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash determined that Crocker was traveling north on Pleasant Street when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The truck drifted off the right side of the roadway and traveled approximately 243 feet before coming to rest after impacting a large tree. Crocker was not wearing a seatbelt and died of injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials say the cause of the crash remains under investigation but that speed and alcohol were likely factors.

Our condolences to Mr. Crocker's family and friends.
