State police are commending a Blaine teen's quick-thinking during a burglary at the teen's home Thursday morning.

The 14-year-old Blaine resident was home at the time of the burglary, which was reported at about 10:30 a.m., state police said in a news release Thursday.

The teen first noticed a strange vehicle parked in the driveway, and then heard someone walking throughout the home, opening doors and rummaging through drawers.

The teen hid from the intruder but managed to take a picture of the car and obtain the license plate number.

The teen contacted a parent, who returned home and met the suspect as she was exiting the front door of the residence.

The parent contacted state police, and their investigation led them to Doris Tardy, 50, of Blaine.

Tardy was arrested at her home and charged with burglary, theft of drugs and possession of schedule W drugs (Oxycontin).

State police commended the teen for staying safe, while also obtaining valuable information.
