Leave it to Bill Gates to find a unique way to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The man who has helped computers become the center of our households and workplaces figured out a unique way to dump the bucket on himself, with no help from others. But hey, he did it!

If you haven't heard about it yet, the challenge is to have a bucket of ice water dumped over your head to help raise awareness of ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease. If you choose not to get the ice water, you're supposed to make a donation to the ALS foundation.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a horrible disease that shuts down your ability to move muscles one by one. It moves quickly, incapacitating a person to the point where the only thing they can move may be their eyes. Meanwhile, the patient's mind stays intact. So you're, quite literally, trapped in your body.

Bill Gates says, at the beginning of the video, that he's happy to give to ALS. But he wanted to accept the challenge, and find a better way to do it. He's shown playing with some schematics that look like a glorified game of hangman. And then, he builds a machine that will dump the water with a pull of a rope. Nerdy? Well. Yeah. He's Bill Gates!
