They ranked 28 cities based on crime rates, school quality, proximity to major cities, percentage of households with children, and access to family-friendly amenities, assigning each a ‘Family Score’ to create their rankings.

According to HomeSnacks' study on ‘The 10 Best Cities To Raise A Family In Maine For 2024,’ Yarmouth takes the top spot as the best place for families in the state. Other towns and cities that made the list include Kennebunk, Gorham, Bath, Brunswick, Orono, Topsham, Belfast, Portland, and South Portland, all ranked based on key factors that make a community great for raising a family.
