A Belmont man is accused of repeatedly stabbing the owner of the home where he lived.

The Waldo County Sheriff's Office has charged 25-year-old Jetton Whiting with Attempted Murder for the stabbing of a 64-year-old man, with whom he shared a residence. Deputies had been called to the home on Lincolnville Road in Belmont just after 12:30 Saturday afternoon, to a report of an assault. The caller said that she had checked on her friend, who owns the house, and found that he had been stabbed the previous evening. Officials say his injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators say Whiting had a verbal argument with the victim that became heated. Whiting allegedly stabbed the man numerous times before fleeing the residence. On Saturday, deputies located Whiting at an abandoned home in Belmont, where they took him into custody. He's currently being held with no bail allowed.
