Belfast Annual Holiday Tree Lighting is Today
As the sun sets this afternoon, you are invited to Post Office Square for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Belfast.
At 5 O'Clock around the tree, attendees will enjoy carols performed by local school choirs, and can sip on hot chocolate as they listen. And sing along.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs Claus will arrive on a Belfast Fire Department engine to greet the hundreds of eager children and adults.
Then Belfast Mayor Eric Sanders will lead the countdown until the tree lights magically come on. Voila.
Again this event originally scheduled for Saturday the 3rd, is today beginning around 5 p.m. in Belfast.
And those Belfastians who would like to purchase a Post Office Square at the Holidays ornament may do so here. If you are a Christmas ornaments lover, this one has a Maine connection and it is unique.
Check it out.
Sales from the ornament support the Our Town Belfast mission to grow and sustain the historice Belfast downtown.
The keepsake ornament represents the historic Post Office Square and how it transforms for the holiday season and includes the tree, menorah, and Santa's red mailbox.
Enjoy tonight's tree lightning, hot chocolate and sing along with the carols. Tis the season.
