Belfast Already Working on Daffodil Planting Project for Fall
What an incredible project and accomplishment. Hats off to Elisabeth Wolfe who has been the coordinator of such an beautiful undertaking.
The daffodil blooms may be pretty much gone for another year, but in Belfast the thought is already on next year.
5 years ago, the project began with the goal of One million daffodils in Belfast.
And the odds are they are going to do it.
Over the past 5 years, 161 thousand daffodil buds have been planted in Belfast.
Last year 2 thousand more bulbs were put into the Belfast soil. Made possible by individuals, businesses and volunteers.
Amazing.
Daffodils bloom right on time when we need the bright yellow cheer the most. Every spring.
So how many more bulbs get planted this fall?
Here is how it works.
Bulbs cost $30 for 100 bulbs. You can order for your own plantings or donate to the project to have the bulbs planted by the planting teams in early October.
If you would like to purchase bulbs reach out to Jan McIntyre, 2023 Daffodil Project, c/o Waldo County YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Ave, Belfast, ME 04915.
OR drop off $ and info at the Y front desk.
The deadline is Thursday the 22nd.
And if you’d like to be part of the planting volunteers reach out to the Daffodil Project.
Making Belfast Bloom is the slogan, and it is so much more than that as this community project keeps growing (pun intended) year after year.
On the way to a Million daffodils.
