So, with that in mind—who’s making the call on naming the best beach towns in America, and what criteria qualifies a town as a ‘beach town,' let alone one of the best?

To determine the best beach towns to live in, WalletHub analyzed 191 U.S. cities using 62 metrics across six key categories: Affordability, Weather, Safety, Economy, Education & Health, and Quality of Life. Each metric was scored on a 100-point scale, and the cities were ranked based on their overall weighted average.

Alright, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it: which three beach towns in Maine are being named among some of America’s absolute best?

According to WalletHub’s report highlighting the ‘Best Beach Towns to Live In,’ the parts of Maine that were mentioned are Portland, South Portland, and Brunswick.

Out of the nearly 200 towns and cities analyzed by WalletHub, Portland ranked the highest among the Maine locations, coming in at 41st overall.

Portland also ranked 120th in Affordability, 106th in Weather, 81st in Safety, 25th in Economy, 76th in Education & Health, and 17th in Quality of Life. Meanwhile, South Portland and Brunswick ranked 57th and 103rd overall, respectively.
