When you think of the quintessential coastal summer in Maine, lobsters, sailboats, BBQs, sunny days by the ocean, and picturesque small towns certainly come to mind. Well, this little gem has all the boxes checked.

Bayside, Maine is a small village on the coast, in Northport, just south of Belfast. Nestled on the shore of Penobscot Bay, this seaside community is definitely worth a summer road trip.

The Midcoast village features 19th-century Victorian cottage rentals that will take you back in time. The area features beaches, and various ocean access points for sea kayaking, boating, or sailing. Visitors can enjoy a picnic in one of the several oceanfront parks, or take a dip in the ocean right off the town wharf. Occasionally there are summer bonfires on the beach, which require a town-issued permit.
