Bangor Police say a hitchhiker allegedly threatened a driver with a knife and robbed him.

Craig Paradis, 41, of Sanford was charged with robbery.

Police got the call just before noon on Thursday of a robbery in the parking lot at 89 State Street. A male victim told officers that he'd picked up Paradis, who was hitchhiking, on his way to Bangor. Once they arrived in the city, the victim claims the Paradis held a knife to his throat and demanded his wallet. Paradis then fled on foot.

Within minutes, police located Paradis on Broadway, near the intersection with Cumberland Street. Paradis was in possession of evidence related to the robbery.

He's been taken to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with robbery. Bail for Paradis was set at $5,000 cash and, at last report, he was still incarcerated.
