Folks can get some great deals on bicycles in Bangor Saturday at the Bangor Police/Parks & Rec bike auction.

The bicycles are collected all year long. Some have been donated but most are bikes that have been abandoned around the city. This year's auction will feature more than 50 bikes of all sizes and styles that will be up for bid, although probably none like the ones in the picture!

Folks are invited to stop by the Bangor Parks & Rec building early, so they can check out the inventory. The preview will last for a half hour and then the bidding starts at 10 o'clock on Saturday. Proceeds from the sales are divided between the Bangor Police Community Relations Fund and Bangor Parks & Rec.

It's a great chance to get a good deal because the bikes are sold at a cheaper rate than they would be commercially. The auction will be held at the Parks & Rec headquarters, in the old Armory, on Main Street in Bangor.
