A Bangor man was arrested after allegedly throwing a utility knife from a vehicle in the downtown region and hitting another man.

Who Was Arrested?

Richard Ramsdell, 48, of Bangor is charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.

What Happened?

Bangor Police Sergeant Jason McAmbley says Ramsdell was traveling on Main Street in Bangor at approximately 2:00 Thursday afternoon when he allegedly threw a utility knife out of his vehicle at a person who was on the sidewalk. The knife struck the victim in the head, which caused them to fall to the ground. Police were called and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

How Was He Caught?

Officials say Ramsdell was identified after he returned to the scene of the crime and then left once again. After he left, witnesses to the incident told investigators that the person responsible had just been there.

He was located, arrested, and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
