Investigators for a December Crash Involving a Pedestrian Will Return to the Scene

The closure will allow investigators to safely continue a crash investigation that began on December 3, 2024, when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Union Street in Bangor, in the area of Sanford and Second Streets. When officers arrived, they found a person lying in the road with serious injuries.

The victim was transported to a local hospital while the driver who struck them stayed to talk with police.

The Car's Driver Stopped on Union Street and Cooperated With Bangor Police

Bangor Police said the car's driver cooperated with the investigation, telling police the pedestrian had stepped off the sidewalk and into the car's path, with no time for the driver to avoid them.

After the crash, the police began checking video surveillance footage from surrounding businesses to determine how the crash happened. That investigation will continue Tuesday evening on Union Street as police officers and accident reconstructionists return to the scene.
