A 14-year-old from Brewer is facing multiple charges after a police pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

Bangor, Maine Police Arrest 14-Year-Old From Brewer After Police Chase

The name of the teen has not been released because he's a juvenile.

Bangor Police Officer Mark Hutchings was on Main Street when he noticed a vehicle that matched the description of one reported stolen by the Brewer Police Department. He followed the vehicle and tried to get the driver to pull over.

But after stopping momentarily, the vehicle sped off with Officer Hutchings in pursuit.

Bangor, Maine Police Pursuit of a Vehicle Stolen in Brewer

During the chase, the driver took several secondary streets through Bangor and, at one point, turned from Webster Avenue onto Hammond Street, where he went through the parking lot of a business.

In that parking lot, the vehicle struck a large, decorative rock pillar, flattened a tire, and lost the front bumper.

Finally, the vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of Buck Street and Webster Avenue, where the juvenile was taken into custody.

Brewer, Maine Teen Faces Multiple Charges in Brewer and Bangor

Bangor Police have charged the youth with:

  • Refusing to stop for law enforcement
  • Criminal mischief
  • Driving to endanger
  • Refusal to submit to arrest.

Police in Brewer have charged him with unauthorized use of property.

This incident remains under investigation.
