
Bangor Maine Parking Cops Have a New Barnacle Enforcement Tool
If you have unpaid parking tickets, settle up this month when overdue fines are waived, before the Barnacle paralyzes your vehicle.
Bangor, Maine, is Offering a Month of Parking Ticket Amnesty in July
Bangor Parking Enforcement has declared July Parking Amnesty Month. That means you can take care of those overdue parking tickets and only pay the original fine. All overdue fees are removed for the month.

Their offices are located in the Bangor Police Department, so stop in and pay them for the one (or more) parking tickets you have outstanding. They'll be happy to take your money, without the extra penalties attached.
After July is over, I'm guessing those fees will be reinstated.
Bangor, Maine, Will Start Replacing the Parking Enforcement Boot With the Barnacle
The big news in parking enforcement in Bangor, however, is the Barnacle, a new tool for disabling vehicles belonging to people who neglect to pay their fines. Kind of like the boot, it will be attached to your vehicle, but it doesn't go on the tire.
The Barnacle attaches to your windshield. And it's easy to remove yourself, once you pay the fine, as demonstrated in this video from Barnacle Parking.
Bangor, Maine, Police Say the Barnacle Will Not Allow Offenders to Drive Away Quietly
The Barnacle is a 20-pound piece of bright yellow plastic that adheres to your windshield with a lot of force, so you can't just lift it off.
Plus, an alarm will sound if the vehicle is moved.
Once the vehicle's owner pays the fine, a code will be inputted to release the device so they can drive away.
The best advice here is to park appropriately and avoid getting tickets in the first place. But if you do find a ticket on your windshield, pay it right away, before the Barnacle blocks your view.
