A Bangor resident is facing charges after what the police say was a confrontational traffic stop.

Bangor, Maine, Police Officers Allegedly Assaulted During Traffic Stop

Skyler Wright, 27, of Bangor, was arrested during a traffic stop on New Year's Day.

Bangor Police Sergeant Jeremy Brock says it was approximately 3:35 am when officers responded to the area of Harthorn Avenue for a report of a vehicle off the road.

When they arrived at the scene, the officers allegedly noticed signs of impairment in the driver,Skyler Wright.

Bangor, Maine, Man Accused of OUI and Assaulting an Officer

They tried to administer standard field sobriety tests, but Wright allegedly became uncooperative and was placed under arrest.

Authorities say the officers were allegedly assaulted while trying to take Wright into custody, resulting in one of the officers being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Wright was charged with:

  • Operating under the influence
  • Refusing to submit to arrest
  • Assault on an officer.
